It is a non-profit founded in 2015 by Melanie Hempe, RN. ScreenStrong empowers families to prevent screen addiction and reclaim their kids from problematic screen use (social media, video games, and pornography). ScreenStrong solutions are not screen-free; rather they replace toxic screen use with healthy activities, life skill development, and family connections.

My children were raised with personal devices until the age of 10 and 6 years old. I’ve made plenty of mistakes. I share my family’s struggles and wins in my workshops. Over the past five years, my family has adopted ScreenStrong’s core values.
As a result, parents will walk away with a strong understanding of how screens affect a developing brain while also feeling inspired to make a change in their own home.

This is my most popular workshop, based on key content from our Kids’ Brains & Screens curriculum for parents. It covers well-researched topics such as how to support healthy brain development, the differences between types of screens, and the impact of social media, video games, and pornography on the developing brain. Parents will leave empowered with practical solutions, clear how-to guidance, and the confidence to make informed decisions about screen time and personal devices in their home.
